Planning a wedding is confusing and I know you have a lot of questions. How much wedding stuff costs especially when it comes to budgeting.
I am going to try and make this short and concise.

Firstly, your budget. That is where you start. Take stock of how much money you have, then add what you honestly believe that you will be able to save and what your parents have offered, if they are offering anything. That is your budget. Whether that amount is €5,000 or €50,000 or whatever in between, that is your budget.
From there, set your priorities. The 2 to 3 things you and your fiancé feel are the most important elements for your wedding.
Now, can I offer some advice? As I do have experience in this area.

Look around at wedding service suppliers, venues and vendors and talk to them. Ask them {what wedding stuff costs} their prices are and what they do for that price. The value of a service is more than just the cost of it and you may just be pleasantly surprised at what is on offer and how helpful and genuine they can be. – as well as giving advice in other areas!
I have been on the wedding forums. I know what all of these brides to be are talking about. They are talking about getting this cheap and getting that cheap, giving advice on what they paid for everything, telling how to save money and how much things cost them.
I have to ask, why would you listen to them? They may have done the shopping but they haven’t tasted the goods yet {so to speak}. Not only that but they may have a budget of €5,000 where you have a budget of €20,000 or €30,000 or more and her priorities may be totally different from yours.
For example, even if you both have €15,000, her priority may be to have every cousin and extended family member at her wedding that she possibly can where you and your fi are real foodies and want a multi- choice gourmet meal for your 50 guests. Where she is telling you she got her venue to do the meal for €30 per person including wine, that is not going to give you what you want and vice versa. Imagine how quickly will she panic if you tell her you are spending €75 per person with a €30 bottle of wine!
Frankly, it’s apples and oranges.
I hope you get my point here and I don’t mean to come across too strong but only you and your wedding service provider/venue/supplier can decide how much things for your wedding will cost. Not someone you know in a virtual world, so ask the wedding service providers/venues and suppliers.

Lastly, I have said it before and I’ll say it again; Everyone is a budget bride; whether that budget is 50,000 or 30,000 or 20,000 or even 5,000.
